Dr. Dwayne Karateew, Periodontist
I completed dental school at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York City. Additionally, I attended a one-year AEGD residency, also at The Presbyterian Medical Center at Columbia University. I went on to complete my certificates in both periodontics and fixed prosthodontics from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
I have practiced for 20 years in my hometown of Vancouver maintaining a practice which focused on periodontics, prosthodontics, and implant centered dentistry. Currently, I am a Clinical Professor and Program Director of the Advanced Education in Periodontology (PG Residency) at UIC College of Dentistry in Chicago where I am involved in both the education of the postgraduate periodontology residents as well as with clinical research. I have earned the status of a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and Implant Surgery as well as being both a Fellow and Diplomate of the Academy of Osseointegration. I am also considered an international expert on implant dentistry having participated in and co-chaired two international summits on best practice guidelines and polices for dental implants.
My wife, Dr. Mitra Sadrameli (Oral and MaxilloFacial Radiologist), and I relocated to Chicago and have now lived here for nine years. From our urban apartment in the city center, we are enjoying exploring Chicago with our two dogs (Shiba Inu’s, Kibo and Kenta) and absorbing its history and architecture. I also enjoy fly fishing, downhill skiing, golfing and gourmet cooking.
